Bees are an important part of the natural environment, they are the ones that pollinate the plants, which means they carry pollen between plants of different sexes to fertilise them, or even between different parts of the same plant, which help plants reproduce. Bees even help plants survive by preventing inbreeding.

European honey bees produce honey, and Australian native bees don’t produce honey, at least not in ample amounts, that is the reason why they were introduced into Australia about 200 years ago – to produce honey. It is important to know that there are about 1600 native bee species in Australia, 200 of them are found in Adelaide.

Bees also pollinate foods eaten by other animals and birds and trees, such us pear, plum or apple.

They create honey which is a really good and healthy food.

They benefit biodiversity, by pollinating the countryside, they help to grow the gardens and general enrichment of landscapes.

Also they are a good signal to know if the environment is health or not. Is is sure that if you find bees, means that the environment is clean and healthy.
